Merge

[edit]

Since a TFR is part of the Federal Aviation Regulations it seems that we should combine this stub with that wikipedia article. I propose this be done after 14 days from today if there are no objections. Alan.ca 10:32, 10 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose. Someone looking for information on what a TFR was wouldn't necessarily go to the FAR page; I think having them distinct makes sense. In addition, this article needs to be expanded; TFRs can be over sporting events, air shows, military operations, etc., not just over the president; it's the ones that limit general aviation anywhere need the president that are the most controversial.--Justfred 17:06, 17 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Also object to merge for several reasons. The FAR article does not include ANY specific descriptions of FARs; it provides an overview of the FARs with links to appropriate articles as details are added. Secondly, as a Homeland Security issue, the concept of TFRs are (in some sense) larger than the FAA regulatory vehicle that supports them, and merit their own discussion as such. Finally, TFRs also join the list of other special use airspace articles, such as Military Operations Area, restricted airspace, prohibited airspace, etc. I would also like this article expanded, and some attempt made to more thoroughly wikify aviation concepts in the FAR article. Oppose. A TFR is a completely separate item, simply defined within the FARs. It is a needed sub-article, and a separate subject. There are far too many items/regulations within the FAR to cover in one article. AuburnPilottalk 21:20, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
